Achieve Your Weight Loss Goals While On Vacation

If you have a vacation or two planned, guess what? You can enjoy your time away and still achieve your weight loss goals. How? You’ll want to come up with your vacation weight loss plan for when you’re at the airport and when you arrive at your destination.

Set Yourself Up For Success

Here are some questions to ask yourself so you can come up with the right strategy BEFORE you pack your suitcase!

1. Is your trip a special occasion where you want to take full advantage of the experiences that come your way?

2. Do you want to have a balance of healthy habits with vacation leniency and maintain your weight?

3. Do you want to lose weight on this trip and are you willing to set limits to make that happen?

It’s important you get clear on what your intentions are so you can create a strategy that won’t leave you feeling disappointed.

Healthy Airport Snack Ideas

If you’re flying to your destination, I challenge you to avoid the mentality that your vacation begins when you arrive at the airport and instead adopt the mentality that your vacation begins when you get OFF the plane.

Have you ever been on a plane and noticed it’s basically just one giant fart zone?

When you’re up in the air, the pressure changes lead to a build-up of gas and can cause bloating and bellyaches. Not exactly a fun way to start the trip, right?!

Here’s how to minimize the damage with these healthy airport snack ideas:

*Avoid carb-heavy foods (sorry, Cinnabon). Pack your favorite protein shake instead. I like Optimum Nutrition Hydro Whey. It digests easily which means less bloating.

*Drink water constantly. You need to up your water game because airplanes are insanely dehydrating. Aim for 8 oz. of water for every hour you’re flying.

*Skip the caffeine, alcohol & carbonated beverages. You won’t have room anyway if you’re drinking all that water.🙃

It’s always so tempting to start your vacation as soon as you arrive at the airport - 2 mimosas comin' right up! And hey - there's nothing wrong with that - but if you want to arrive looking and feeling lighter, try these healthy airport snack tips on for size!

Airports are so expensive anyway, save your money and your calories for when you reach your destination.

Tips For Staying On Track While On Vacation

  • Nutrition - This is key! Make sure 2 of your meals are mostly veggies and lean protein. For example, breakfast could be a protein shake that you packed. Lunch could be chicken or shrimp salad, or snack on ceviche by the pool! Drink plenty of water throughout the day - especially if it’s hot. And for your third meal, treat yo’self. Savor it! Resist the urge to overindulge knowing you’ll treat yourself again the next day.

  • Be active - You are on vacation, after all, you have time to do whatever you want! Don’t just go comatose on the beach - walk around town, rent bikes, go hiking, try a unique workout class, or have lots of hotel room sex.

  • Flaunt your bod - I’m serious, this is a strategy. When my clients follow their plan, they see results. They’ve been working for those results and it’s time to celebrate the progress they’ve made. If you’re feeling ready to showcase the goods with confidence - now's the perfect time to practice. Get dressed up for dinner or rock that new bikini.
